Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the first University of posts and telecommunications in New China, enjoys the reputation of Whampoa Military Academy of Chinese Information and the Cradle of communications. It is a national key University that was among the first batch to be listed in “Project 211", and is one key construction university of "985 Major Innovation Platforms for Preponderant Discipline". There are national key laboratories, such as "Network and Switching Technology" and "Information Photonics and Optical Communications" and etc. After years of development, it has become an important training base for information technology talents.

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications has gathered groups of outstanding experts and scholars in the field of future network industry, tackling key problems in science and technology respectively from underlying network, optical networking, mobile Internet, network security and so on. Future Network Theory and Application Laboratory, led by Academician Liu Yunjie, is an academic team of College of Information and Communication Engineering at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, specializing in innovative research in the field of future network, whose research is mainly focused on network architecture, new router and switching technologies, future network oriented content distribution platforms, network virtualization technology and platform, IOT theories and applications and other aspects. Laboratory has now undertaken a number of national longitudinal research projects, including national "973 Project", "863 Program", National Nature Science Foundation, major projects of national mobile communications, major projects from National Development and Reform Commission, the strategic advisory of Chinese Academy of Engineering, etc. Meanwhile, it has established cooperation relations with international well-known University laboratories, like Stanford University, University of California Berkeley and Yale University, and also cooperated closely with corporations such as China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, SARFT, Huawei, ZTE to conduct innovations in the field of communication and network together.

Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences

Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy Of Sciences (hereafter referred to as ICT) was founded in 1956, the first academic institute specializing in the comprehensive study of computer science and technology. ICT is the cradle of China's computer industry. With the development of science and technology, there are many research institutes gradually separating out from ICT, like Institute of Microelectronics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Computing Network Information Center, Institute of Software and other research institutions, as well as Lenovo, Sugon, Loongson, Bwstor and other high-tech enterprises. In the past 50 years, ICT has made remarkable achievements in science and technology. By the end of 2011, ICT, as the first completed institute, has obtained a total of 735 scientific and technological achievements, and 196 national, institutional, municipal and ministerial scientific awards, including 39 national awards and 157 institutional and ministerial ones.

Network Technological Research Center is the scientific research entity of ICT undertaking research in network field. Currently there is more than 100 core research staff, including eleven experts with senior titles, fourteen with sub-senior titles and seven visiting researcher. The research team, facing the development trend and the nation’s needs of network technology, is committed to research and development of future network architectures, core network equipment, testing networking technology and network management. Related research has received funding from national 973 Project, Major Projects of National Nature Science Foundation, national 863 Program and EU FP7 Project. Meanwhile, the Institute of Computing is working with UCLA, CMU, Stanford and MSU from US, INRIA, UPMC, University of Liège, University of London from EU and other famous Universities and research institutes to conduct international collaborative research. The Institute has obtained more than 100 authorized national invention patents, among which a lot has already been widely used by industry.

ICT has established a total of twelve subdivisions/branches in cities regions of Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Coastal such as Suzhou, Shanghai, Zhaoqing, Ningbo, Dongguan, Taizhou, Qinhuangdao, Shunde and Xiaoshan. Hundreds of technologies made by Institute of Computing have been radiated to local small and medium sized enterprises through subdivisions, acting as a key role in enhancing the core competitiveness of local enterprises and improving product profitability, and have brought economic and social benefits of more than 10 billion Yuan to the local.

ICT abides by the "Fundamental, Strategic and Forward-looking" Principles, adheres to the approach in the new era, taking "Being among the international frontier, Concerning about people's livelihood and Leading Chinese information industry" as their duty, implements the concept of "Innovation and Realism", and strives to become the world's leading scientific and academic institute.

Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University is an important base of high-level personnel training and scientific and technological research. It has a strong advantage in the areas of fundamental research, applied technology, and scientific and technological achievements. College of Information Science and Technology of Tsinghua University currently consists of four departments, two research entity (Institute of Information Technology, Institute of Microelectronics) and one national demonstrated software colleges. There are two national engineering research centers and two National Engineering Laboratories (core network of the next-generation Internet, DTV (Beijing)). Besides, it is the support unit of "National Laboratory of Tsinghua Information Science and Technology", which is one of the first constructed five National Laboratories.

Research Institute of Information Technology (abbreviated as RIIT) of Tsinghua University is an important part of College of Information Science and Technology and National Laboratory of Tsinghua University. It consists of eight technical research centers, as well as joint research and development institutions established with a number of well-known enterprises at home and abroad. It focuses on intelligent multimedia networks, network measurement perception, resource management and scheduling, organization, management and sharing of massive information of internet, standardization of wireless transmission and mobile communication, as well as architecture and key technologies of the next-generation Internet (CNGI). R&D institutions have obtained three national awards, four provincial awards and 77 authorized patents for inventions. Being involved in the drafting of more than ten national and industry standards has greatly promoted the industry development.

RIIT focuses on building sound cooperative relations with enterprises at home and abroad, aiming to be the support platform for technology innovation and organizing platform for major projects. Cooperative projects including “large-scale distributed network video delivery system” have brought more than one hundred million RMB for enterprises.
